A special day for directors and assistant directors to rejuvenate and renew their professionalism.

KEYNOTE: Luis A. Hernandez, M.A.

Luis A. Hernandez is an  Early Childhood Specialist for the Training and Technical Assistance Services at Western Kentucky University. He holds an M. A. in bilingual/Multicultural education from the University of San Francisco. Luis brings solid expertise based on his work in Head Start, child care, Pre-K programs, colleges and universities, child care resource and referral  administration and professional development design.

His work at TTAS-WKU focuses on a wide range of early childhood education and professional development topics, including early literacy, dual language learning, adult learning practices , changing demographics and diversity,  ECE management and leadership topics. He is a regular presenter at local, state and national conferences and is highly regarded for his motivational and energizing presentations. He recently co-authored “Learning from the Bumps in the Road” with Holly Bruno which focuses on leadership in early childhood education.

He is active in a number of organizations that support children and family interests. He has been active in the NAEYC accreditation process and developing professional and leadership development opportunities. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the McCormick Tribune Center for Early childhood Leadership, the United Way’s Center for Excellence in Early childhood, and is a member of the Board of Parents as Teachers. Advancing the goals of the World Forum on Early Care and Education is an area of work and professional interest for him.
