LOCATE: Child Care
Through LOCATE: Child Care, parents can access free, one-on-one telephone counseling support for parents and guardians seeking licensed child care in Prince George's County. Our experienced counselors are eager to speak with you Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and can be reached at 301.772.8400.
Our LOCATE database contains over 1500 family child care providers and nearly 400 child care centers, and is continually updated through our close relationship with the Office of Child Care, Maryland's child care licensing agency. Our counselors will discuss your options with you, help you locate helpful community resources, and provide information about choosing quality child care. Before you hang up, you will have a list of referrals that meet your needs.
LOCATE Child Care Assistant is an easy-to-use, software program that enables parents and guardians to conduct self-guided online searches for regulated child care programs in Maryland that include family child care, child care centers, before and after school programs, summer camps, Head Start programs, nursery schools, part-day programs, and private kindergarten programs .
The After-School Activities web application provides online access for parents and children who are searching for information about after-school activities and programs of all kinds. Currently, this database contains information on over 2,200 after-school programs, including all regulated after-school programs in the state of Maryland.
We are pleased to offer enhanced services for teen parents, parents receiving Temporary Cash Assistance or Purchase of Care benefits, and parents of children with special needs. Counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 301.772.8415.
Currently, PEPCO employees are eligible for additional support to find child care programs and may call 301.772.8415. Corporations or organizations who wish to provide this enhanced child care referral service to their employees can call 301.772.8420, ext. 214 or email the Director of LOCATE: Child Care to make arrangements for specialized assistance. A fee is charged for this service.
Licensed providers may call 301.772.8411 to update information on vacancies, fees, hours, and any aspects particular to your program. It is important to do this periodically so that we have current referral information available and can best serve you.
