A special day for directors and assistant directors to rejuvenate and renew their professionalism.

Relax-Refresh-Renew!

Did you know that child care workers are some of the most stressed out workers in the entire country? High levels of stress negatively impact one’s health, work, interpersonal relationships and the children in your care. Prolonged stress in young children can slow – or even stop- brain development and physical growth. What can we as early childhood leaders do to create a healthy stress free environment in our programs? Join us as we explore the causes of stress, consequences of stress, and suggest solutions that may work in your program.

Our morning session, Relaxation Techniques for Stressed-Out Child Care Providers will take a look at the causes of all this stress and develop strategies for coping in the classroom, in the center and in our personal lives.

After a delicious lunch, we will put what we learned in the morning session to work on Building Classroom Communities as we create supportive classroom environments where staff, children and parents come to know and care about each other and develop mutual regard so that everyone can learn and grow. This session explores the three major leadership styles and the impact these have in a classroom and demonstrates how to utilize essential skills for building positive relationships between all staff and children. Each participant will create a personal plan for building a caring classroom community.

This year’s training will be presented by our wonderful Resource Center Staff: Paul Armstrong, Laura Terrell, Jodi Regner, Sheila Skinner, Eileen Brooks and Taylor Shiver. Participants will earn 6 Core of Knowledge Hours.
