HONOR HER ON MOTHER'S DAY

Heidy reached out to Prince George's Child Resource Center after she learned about our family support services from a friend. Heidy was pregnant and scared. The Resource Center gave her the support she needed to end an abusive relationship, provided her with prenatal education as she learned to bond with her unborn baby and linked her to health care services. Five months later, she gave birth to Kari, a healthy baby girl. With our support Heidy enrolled at community college, prepared for a job interview for a full-time position, and she is reading to Kari every night. Today both mother and daughter are thriving!

Mother's Day is May 12. At the Resource Center, we know the important role of mothers in the lives of our smallest Prince Georgians. Sometimes it's not a mother but a mother-like figure that is the strength and support of many. Reflect on a special woman in your life. Honor her by making a contribution this Mother's Day to Prince George's Child Resource Center to celebrate your mother, grandmother, aunt, sister or beloved friend. Your donation, large or small, will help the Resource Center continue to support special mothers like Heidy. In return, the Resource Center will send her a special Mother's Day card with a message letting her know that you made a contribution in her honor.

Heidy's story shows how the Resource Center helps create healthy and nurturing environments for children by supporting their families and educating their caregivers. Each year, the Resource Center provides family support services to more than 1,500 families as well as child care training to more than 2,500 parents and professional providers in Prince George's County.
