April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and our Healthy Families team was excited to join the “Pinwheels of Possibility” campaign!
On April 16, 2026, during the quarterly Advisory Board meeting for Healthy Families Prince George’s, we hosted a pop up photo booth for partners to come and take their “selfies” with a pinwheel and we also took a group photo of staff and Advisory Board members. Our home visitors are trained to celebrate the strengths of each family, build up protective factors and promote nurturing parent-child interactions. Every home visit adds joy along the parenting journey.
Just like us at Healthy Families Prince George’s, Prevent Child Abuse America and its network of chapters, Healthy Families community sites, and partners are recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAP Month) with the 2026 campaign theme “Pinwheels of Possibility”—a call to strengthen families, support communities, and invest in prevention so every child can have access to the condition of safety and well-being.
The pinwheel is our “call to action” because as the many pedals of the pinwheel, we all play a part in preventing child abuse and neglect, whether we are providing direct support to families, managing the funds that programs need, advocating for families and creating family centered legislation.
